Chunky-Knit Weighted Blankets Are On Trend
Obsessing over the chunky knit blankets this winter season? We don’t blame you; we’ve been crushing on them for years. The thick layers of soft, woven fabric meld together organically
Chunky-knit blankets are trending harder than last year’s turmeric latte. And while we’re big fans of our our own chunky-knit weighted blankets, we’re more than happy to give other chunky-knit blanket brands their much-deserved due.
As the only weighted chunky-knit blanket on the market, we’re proud to represent both trends this year, as weighted blankets are becoming more and more popular, and hand-knit blankets of the chunky variety are also the object of desire.
Another proud moment this year? Teaming up with West Elm to introduce our weighted chunky-knit design, along with new collaborative colors, to as many people as possible. Cozy up to a better, deeper sleep and a more calm, collected mindsight.
Did you know?
We developed three new colors with West Elm for our Tree Nappers and Cotton Nappers, based on colors inspired by natural elements and interior design elements, respectively. We hope you love them as much as we do.
Obsessing over the chunky knit blankets this winter season? We don’t blame you; we’ve been crushing on them for years. The thick layers of soft, woven fabric meld together organically, making them perfect for everything from decorating your den to drifting off into dreamland. Another up-and-coming trend? Weighted blankets. While the majority of chunky knit blankets may feel heavy, they aren’t technically weighted. We’ve got you covered on both trends this year: our Nappers are both carefully crafted to create the Instagram-worthy chunky loops and weaves, and weighted down to give you the better, deeper sleep you’ve been dreaming of. Suffice to say, there’s a lot to love about both.
Although we are superfans of our Nappers (self-love is important, after all!), we’re not about to just toot our own horn. We like to support other brands and products we admire, too. The following is a list of the top 7 trending blankets to fulfill your chunky knit needs and keep you cozy all season long. Grab yourself a cup of tea and cuddle up—you probably won’t be moving for a while.
1. The Citizenry // For The Luxe Lover
This ultra-chunky blanket is entirely hand-knit out of unspun wool from the Peruvian highlands. The Citizenry supports fair trade for all of their products, which include rugs, baskets, and other home goods from local artists all over the globe. To make this blanket, a master weaver in Peru knits all the large loops by hand, and the result is a gorgeously chunky, yet delicate throw. It’s as stylish as it is soft; just be careful not to spill anything on that pristine ivory wool!
2. Jenny's Knit Co // For The Super-Small-Business Supporter
Etsy is a go-to online shop for all things handcrafted—from charm bracelets to charcuterie boards and of course, chunky-knit blankets. If you want your cozy blanket to feel like Grandma knit it especially for you, Etsy is the place to go. Jenny’s handmade blankets come in a variety of colors and her hundreds of five-star reviews speak for themselves. And, if you want to be twinning with your furry friends, check out her adorable chunky-knit pet beds. Your canine or feline companion will never be cozier (or trendier)!
3. We are Knitters // For The One Who Wants To DIY
Fact: some of us are more crafty than others. If you’ve got a friend or family member who loves to knit, this is the ultimate gift. Not only will they end up with a beautiful Peruvian wool knitted blanket, but the giftee will definitely enjoy their time crafting it (and patting themselves on the back as well). All you do is choose the color and pattern, and the full kit is assembled and sent to the door, needles and all. We Are Knitters is committed to being a green and sustainable company, which is a value we share with them. They send the kits in recycled and reusable bags, and their knitting needles are made from sustainable beechwood—no plastic to be found here. Designed for both beginners and pros, the patterns help you knit the blanket of your dreams.
4. Pottery Barn // For The Indecisive One
When you can’t decide between two colors, get yourself a blanket that gives you both. This combination of neutral tones is the perfect addition to any bedroom or living room. The sustainably sourced throw makes for the perfect gift this holiday season. You can feel good knowing that Pottery Barn has been increasing their commitment to the environment by including more eco-friendly materials, recycled packaging, and non-toxic components.

With colors ranging from neutrals to bolds and prices that won’t break the bank, you may be able to get one for most on your Christmas list.
6. Hearth & Crate // For The Amazon Prime Lover
A gorgeous chunky-knit blanket, and free two-day shipping? That’s a winning combination. While Amazon might not be the first place you think of to buy blankets, this top-rated one may change your mind. The oversized throw is big enough to cover both you and a few of your closest friends. Made of Chenille luxury yarn, it’s safe to say you’ll want to avoid taking this one off. Another pro? It’s machine washable!
